4 month shots

Jacie had her 4 month old pictures taken today. She was actually pretty good, considering she is teething right now and quite cranky. This little black dress is the one Ryan picked out for her before she was born. We have been waiting and waiting for her to fit into it. It's still a little big, but she sure looks cute.

She looks like she has red hair in this shot. It is really more of a blonde color. Maybe she will be a strawberry blonde.
This one is my favorite!! Its the very first shot, which always seems to be the best with her. After that it is hit and miss.
Do you see any sand? I can't seem to find any...

I love this one! She loves to stand, and looks so darn cute with her little shoes.

Yard Work

Apparently the Princess does not enjoy yard work, even if her only chore is to sit and bounce. I got in about five minutes worth of work before I had to call it quits.

Since she was going to be outside, I decided shoes would be a good idea. These nifty little numbers are from the Daddy Shower Ryan had thrown in his honor. They fit just right and she looks so darn cute in them!! Now, if my chubby legs could look that cute in socks and tennies, we would be set!
This looks seems to be saying "Now look what they have gone and done to me. My shoes don't match, my hat doesn't fit, and I am not being held. Do something about it...now!"

Rodeo Queen

Jacie went to her first rodeo on friday! It was a bit loud for her at first, but after she got over that, she enjoyed it. She jabbered as the rodeo announcer jabbered and looked so darn cute in her denim overall and urban sombrero. Ryan and I have gone to this rodeo several times and love it. I'd never been to a rodeo before this very small one, but the first time I was there, I was hooked! My favorite part of the whole ordeal? The rodeo clown!
This guy reminds me so much of my brother in law, Tate, that I just laugh everytime something comes out of his mouth. Of course, both of them are pretty darn funny.
This guy was the first rider. He got hung up and was dragged around the ring like this for a good 10-12 seconds. He was disqualified, but what a ride!As I said before, she will stick anything in her mouth. Here, she is chewing on the giraffe, or as I call it, long necked horse, that came with her overalls. It is attached the inside of her front pocket so she can't lose it, but can love on it all she wants.

Food, 4th, and 45th

Jacie Girl had her 4 month check up today. She weighed in at 13 pounds 8 ounces, and is 24 inches long. This puts her in the 45th-50th percentile, so just about where she should be! She jabbered at the Doctor, and has met all of the milestones to date. I asked him how much tummy time to give her and he said not much because she has good head control. That was so great to hear! She also got her shots, which she didn't care much for. Believe it or not, she seemed to know she was in for something unpleasant. As soon as we got into the room, she got this panicked look on her face, and started to cry. She calmed down when she saw the Dr., but when the shot lady came in, she did the very same look and started to cry and gave me this look as if to say "Get me outta here!!" Another bonus of today is that she was given permission from Dr. Allyn to eat food! I was so excited to feed her that I went out and bought spoons, little bowels and of course, food. On the other hand, I got a little teary eyed because I feel like she is no longer a baby! Of course she is, but she has so much personality now she is like a little person. She is also developing attitude. Very cute. I just have to smile at it.
The first bite! She may look like she doesn't enjoy it, but she did. It was a little weird at first, I think. She is not crying because we are making her eat, or because we are not feeding her fast enough, I think she is just sore from her shots. Very grumpy today.
See that sweet face? I can see her packing on the pounds now. She enjoyed her food very much. More, please?

Ryan helped out with the shoveling of the food while I took a turn at the camera. It was a wonderful new step in our lives with Little Miss Princess. We still feel just as blessed as ever to have her here.

More Silly Sleeper Shots

Being a new Mom, I check on Jace a lot while she sleeps. I just love to look at her. Ryan does the same thing. We just don't get enough of her while she is awake. Anyway, she has this habit of sleeping with her arms above her head ( I sleep like that too, come to realize), and now, she likes to tuck one hand behind her head (just like I do, strange). This shot is in the hotel while she is taking a nap. Cute girl!!
I went in to check on her tonight, after putting the binky in her mouth and pulling out her fingers, to find that she spit out the binky AGAIN and has her two fingers in her mouth AGAIN with her other hand over the top, like that will stop me from pulling those fingers out. I thought it was just a phase, and she would not become attached to those fingers, but I am realizing she prefers the fingers to the paci now. Makes me sad...I can take away her paci, but noth her fingers...Still, she is darn cute, finger sucking and all.

Matching styles

Ryan took a hint from his baby daughter and begged me on his hands and knees to shave his head. Well, maybe not on hands and knees, but close. He has been asking me for weeks to shave it, but I have skirted around it. He got 26 miles away from home and called me and asked if he should come home to get his hair cut before he got to Indi. When I called him the night before we left to go down there I asked him if he needed me to bring anything. He said the clippers, so we did it, and he and Jacie have the same hairstyle!
Here he is hiding it under his hat, he must think he looks pretty awful...I think it looks nice, though a shock after his very shaggy 'do he has had for the last several weeks. Baby Girl hides her 'do under her hat when she is outside so she won't burn. Ry will have to do the same now.

Here we go a travelin’

Ryan has been in Indianapolis for the past week, and was having major babysickness, so we jumped into the car on Friday afternoon and headed down. What is a 4 hour drive took me closer to six, singing primary songs more than half the way. For those of you that really know me, I HATE to sing, but for some reason, this child of mine loves to hear music, even if it sounds like a cow dying a horrible, painful, and slow death. We got to the yucky hotel (I wouldn’t recommend the Studio 6 chain at all!!) and saw Ryan walking out to sit in the grass to wait for us. We were so happy to see him! Baby J had her first hotel stay, and did marvelous! She is down to one feeding a night, with an early morning feed and a 9 or 10 feed at night, so we had some good sleep.
We went to downtown Indianapolis where it’s hoppin’ with stuff to do. We walked along the canal, which is more like a green belt touristy type of place. You can rent paddle boats, take Gondola rides, go to the museum, Zoo, and so much more. We really enjoyed being down there. There is a head and neck fellowship Ryan is considering after residency down there, and I would totally be game for that. It was beautiful, and very well kept.
This is what Jacie thinks of Indianapolis along the canal. Hee hee
She has graduated from her infant carrie in the stroller to just sitting in the stroller. She LOVES it. She can see so much more and gets even more attention than before because people can see her easier.

Jumperoo

Since she loves to stand so much, I put together one of her gifts we had yet to open. This is a jumper, kind of like the ones we had as kids that hung from an entryway, but on the ground. I thought she would love it, but she just stood there and gave me this look to say, “Now, tell me again, why did you put me down? I don’t get it.” I tried to bounce her a little to show her how it works, but she just didn’t like it too well. I think she is still a bit young for it, and when she is done, she is really done.
Someone, please rescue me.

Grabber Girl

These days Jacie has figured out how to use her hands to play with stuff. She sits in this little chair and talks to me while I am in the kitchen, and one day she was squawking up an unhappy storm. So…Ryan went to her room and got one of her toys out of her toy box. What did she do? She instantly opened her mouth shoved it in.
She happily munched and talked and gabbered her way through the rest of my dinner preparations.

Exersaucer, Anyone?

This neat little contraption was given to us by a friend that is done having children. I needed to put her down so I could get some stuff done while Ryan was gone for the week, so I thought I would try this. She was a little overwhelmed by it all. After all, the chair moves around and around, it makes all kinds of noises, and there is an abundance of color! I put some of her toys on it that she could grab and put in her mouth (She loves anything she can get in there). Once she tossed all of them off, she wanted out and I couldn’t get to it fast enough. She screamed like her left leg was falling off and the next time I tried to put her into it, she cried within minutes. Oh well, maybe in another week or two. At this age, what they may not be ready for right now, may be be a great thing next week.

Doesn't she look so tiny in there? I have her propped with ablanket.

July 4th

We went to see fireworks on the 4th with a large group of friends and had a blast! Not only were the fireworks awesome, but Jacie really seemed to like them! We covered her ears during the really big booms, and she would just stare and stare. During the finale, she kicked and kicked her little legs. It was super loud, so I think she was a bit surprised by it. When she would become distracted and look elsewhere, the bright lights would always pull her back to watch. It was almost more fun to watch her than the fireworks themselves.

This is a good friend of mine, April Evans. Aren't they cute?Crazy picture, but super pretty in real life.
