Jumping Jacie

This is my first attempt at loading a video onto the blog site, and I learned a thing or two. Sooo...you will have to watch her jump sideways in this one. Next time I will do better. Also, I make lost of noises to encourage her to jump. Bear with me!

In other news...I started back to school and Jacie girl doesn't seem to be any worse for the wear. She did fantasico with my friend Rebecca, and with Ryan the next day. Rebecca has two adorable boys and Jacie just loves 'em. I don't think she missed me until Rebecca tried to get her to take the sippy. She would not have anything to do with that! Don't feel bad, Rebecca, she wouldn't take it for Ryan either. She takes it for me, but maybe she is associating the breast milk in the sippy with me, and can't make the transistion. Oh well.

In just three short weeks, Princess Peanut will start on veggies! She likes her cereal, but it will be nice to include other stuff in there, too. She is just going to have to enjoy solids more while I am in class and then I can feed her when I get home. Growing like a weed, this kid.

The CRIM (Coolest Race in Michigan)

Ryan, Jacie, and I participated in the CRIM, which is a bunch of different races that take place in downtown Flint. Ryan and I have done it in the past and enjoyed it…and not just for the t-shirt!. This year, Ryan ran the 5K, I walked the 5K with Baby Girl, and Jacie did the Teddy Bear Trot, which is for kids. Every single year it rains, and this year was no different. There was a huge storm the night before that produced 6 tornadoes in Michigan, so we weren’t sure if there would even be a race. Thankfully, we were spared in Swartz Creek and Flint (our friends in Fenton were not as lucky, but they are safe and no property damage for them).

Back to the race…just as Ryan was finishing his race and I began mine, it started to rain on our little peanut in the stroller. She didn’t seem to mind, though. She slept through a good chunk of it, but still managed to have several melt downs. Long day for Baby Girl, and long Day for Ryan who ran the 5K, walked it with me AFTER he ran his, and also did Jacie’s race plus all the other walking we did in the downtown area between races. We were wiped out at the end of the day!
Ryan is in this mass of people somewhere, I just couldn't get him on film.
Post Race for Mom and Dad, pre race for Jacie. We got drenched!
Jacie's little T-shirt has a teddy bear on it and says Teddy Bear Trot. Very cute. Very large on her, but very cute.
By the end, she was wiped out and fell asleep in my arms on the way back to the car. I layed her down in the stroller and she didn't even flinch! We got home, showered her to get her warmed up and she slept for 4 hours! Thank goodness, because I was wiped out too, and slept for almost 2 hours.

Teddy Bear Trot

Jacie did her first Road Race, and she won! Well, she was the first stroller to cross the finish line, that is. Her Daddy pushed her all the way, a whole quarter-mile and did they ever look cute! I dropped them off at the start line and walked closer to the finish so I could get some pictures. Apparently after I left, Ronald McDonald with all his hair and clothes loudness decided to be loud another way. He got out the mega phone and started "pumpin' up" the crowd. In so doing, Princess Peanut had a major meltdown! Ryan had to take her out of the stroller and try to comfort her. Ya, it was a long day for this little trotter.Please. must I wear the ears? I don't think I can handle this.Ryan and Princess Peanut getting ready to take on the challengers!

Pre-meltdown, before Ronald got too close. The starting line!

Here they come in a mad dash for the finish!

Ryan is still stuck in the crowd, but will soon pull away.

Here he is, making the break from the group to win it all!

The finish!

Jacie got a little "medal". All of the kids got one, and it is so darn cute. Its a little teddy bear that is trotting.

Dinner Party

Sunday night was a fun night at our house. We had our good friends the Higbees over. They have two girls that adore Jacie, and a baby on the way. Soon they will have their own baby to adore! We also had over two med students that are rotating at Genesys. Both of them were very nice, and I hope they are able to join us! Here is Jacie Girl being "adored" by the two girls. She loves attention, but especially attention from other kids. It would be a shame is she were an only child! I think that my going back to school will be good for her...she will be around other kids a few hours a week.
Ryan, of course, being a goof ball. Gotta love him!
This is a blurry shot, but you can see the girls and one of our visitors. This guy is rotating in ENT, so he and Ryan have something in common. The two girls are Brinley (red hed) and Alaina or Lanie for short. Cute, Cute, girls!

Gifts from the Cousins

Jacie got a package the other day in the mail. Well, actually, it was a while ago, but it was sure fun to get it! Her cousins Josie and Challis sent her a pair of adorable slippers and a necklace that will match pretty much everything in her closet because it is pink. Gotta love those girls! See the necklace? It has a pink heart, then pink and white beads all the way around. Ryan is in trouble, this girl already has 4-5 bracelets, hair bows and now a necklace!
The minute we put these little bunnies on, she wants to play with then, so they don't stay on very long, but we try!

Here is a close up sp you can see just how cute they really are. Girls rock!

More food-Now, please!

This is glimpse at the process of Ryan feeding Jacie. She loves her food, and in just 4 short weeks, we will introduce veggies. This will be atrick, I'm sure. If she is like her Daddy, she will prefer something else over the veggie selection. Note: When Momma feeds her, there is a lot less mess.

Satisfied with getting at least half of her food into her mouth, Baby girl goes for dessert--her yummy fingers.

Nana's Overalls

With the cooler weather on the way (and here every other day), we have been getting into pants and such for the Peanut. This snazzy little number is from Nana, thanks Nana!! She looked so cute in them, and we just took the tags off today. Its so fun taking tags off the clothes and putting them on her. A bonus about these pants is that they are denim, but super soft, so her skin isn't rubbed raw. Gotta love it!
This shot makes her look like she is directing air traffic. Maybe Uncle Clint can get her a job some day.
I wonder if she is looking at me and thinking, "Did I really choose to come down and live with her?"

5 months and Sassy!

I've totally loved doing her pictures each month. A friend of mine suggested it when she was born. We will stop doing it at 12 months. She changes so much from month to month, and this is a great way to see it. Its super cheap too, only $7 per photo sheet, and I can order only one picture each time, and then I still have access to all of them online. I save them to my computer, so they are always there. Coolness. I tell ya, if she didnt' look so much like her Daddy, we would know she was his daughter by her sense of humor. Holy moly, is she just like him! She loves potty humor, it seems, or anything he does. SO much for Mama, she is out--no longer the favorite. That OK, though. She still wants me when she is hurt or hungry, and those are two things she will have her entire life. She may be done with nursing in 7 months, but I can always fill her tummy with something yummy. Do you just love those shoes?? They were a gift from Alexandra Ross, a girl in our ward. She attend BYU and was home for the summer. We love 'em!
See the little pro at the belly time?
Totally hammin' it up, like her old man. Do you see the giraffe in her pocket? It was super cold today at 59 degrees at noon. I think summer is over!
As curious as her Mom and Dad. She has to touch everything, taste i,t and then explore every inch of it. Love it!
"I'm really an angel, can't you tell? Shhh...don't tell my Daddy!"
Can you please explain to me why they put me in this basket?
Love the shoes! Well, she doesn't really. She will kick her feet until they come off, then her feet stop moving. Hmmmm....

Silly Sleeper-Again!

OK, so this made me laugh so hard. I layed her down to go to bed. She must have been super tired because she didn't squack at all. When I went to check on her a little later, this is what I saw--passed out with the paci still stuck to the corner of her lip.
This shot is a little blurry, but it was the best out of the bunch. I layed her down on the floor this morning for some down time--you know, out of my arms-- and she played happily for abuot 10 mintes. This is by far the longest time she has ever played on the floor without wanting to be picked up. I was cleaning the kitchen and suddenly I realize I couldn't hear her little chirps. I go around the corner and there she is, asleep! She really loves those fingers, and sometimes the thumb, but she also like her paci.

The Mohawk

We went out for a walk today in the sun, so we lathered up Jacie Girl in sunscreen. Once we got done, we stuck her in the tubby to wash it off. I was lathering up her hair and she has a lot more of it now, so we made this cute little 'do. I used to do this with my hair when I was young. I loved it!
She still prefers the shower, but an occasional bath (like after a ginormous pooh) is OK with her.
She makes bath time look so fun!

Tummy Time Re-Do!

We have a baby on the belly! She likes it better now. She rolled over twice last Saturday, but nothing since. She doesn't care for it, I guess. Ryan says she didn't really roll over. Since he didn't see it, it must not have happened. I think he is just jealous that he was outside raking crab apples when she did it. She enjoys her time on her belly a lot more now. If we put toys right in front of her, she will grab them and play with them while she lays there. Still, she prefers other things like her jumper, exersaucer, highchair and of course, Mommy's lap!

The Reverent Child

Butterbean has been doing this for a couple weeks now. She will spontaneously fold her arms and sit there quietly. Where did she pick up this trait? I wonder if Papa Terry (Ryan's Dad) sat down with her and had a talk before she got here and told her some silly things to do to make her Daddy laugh. In fact, we were at a baptism and she did it. Ryan was quit irreverent as he was trying to get the attention of his friends around him to look. I say she didn't get her "reverent side" from her Daddy!
Doesn't she look so perfectly innocent? I'd say we are in for it later on as she gets more mobile and can do more stuff.
